Celebration International Ozone Day - 2012 in Sri Lanka
2012 is a remarkable year since the Montreal Protocol celebrates its 25th Anniversary. The Montreal Protocol is considered as one of the most successful environment treaty which has been universally ratified. Due to high Global warming Potential of ozone depleting substances, phase out measures not only contribute ozone protection, but also for climate change mitigation. Montreal protocol is working successfully providing technology and policy interventions which may also bring significant climate benefits as well. Year 2012 is an important milestone for Sri Lanka as for all environmental friendly countries in the world. Sri Lanka has unique plans to commemorate this remarkable year with many ozone and climate concerns. Apart from that United Nations Environment Proramme (UNEP) which is one of the lead agencies implementing Montreal Protocol regulations throughout the world also celebrates its 40thAnniversary.
Therefore 2012 is a significant year for all environment friendly nations. We may provide an over view of the kind of event that we have planned for celebrating this historical year. National Ozone Unit in Sri Lanka hopes to use this opportunity in the best way of possible to alert nation on ozone depletion, its impacts and global partnership for protection etc.

There were programmes held in following Districts and select five technitions according to marks they obtained and final test including practical test will be held in Collombo among them and select the winner. The winning technition will be awarded at the Celebration of the International Ozone Day in Sri Lanka
